Unit emissions of vehicles in Finland

Unit emissions cover the amount of emissions emitted during operation of vehicles. Emissions are measured in mass units and allocated to each passenger or tonne of freight transported over one kilometre (g/tonne kilometre,
g/passenger kilometre).

On these pages emissions are considered in two ways: separately by transport mode and all transport modes compared to one another.

Passenger traffic

Emissions and energy consumption per passenger kilometre are shown for the following four transport modes.

Off-road traffic

Off-road traffic covers motor vehicles that are operated outside the road network, for example ATVs (all-terrain vehicles), snowmobiles etc.

Working machines

Working machines (forest tractors, wheel loaders, forklifts etc.) are not means of transport, but their unit emissions are however presented here as an extra.
